The remote is not a gimmick — it is how you match the light to the season. Every Vaelo Light ships with one.
Automatic mode (the default you should leave it in)
The light sensor switches the lamp on at dusk and off at dawn, and the battery is charged by day. For most installations this is the correct setting all year.
Manual on / off
Overrides the sensor. Useful when you are working outside at midday or want the light off during a party. Switch back to auto afterwards — the unit will not charge correctly if you leave it on in daylight.
Timers: 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours
The timer counts from switch-on. Set it and the light goes off after that many hours, saving battery for later in the night or for cloudy weather.

Remote not responding?
- Point it at the receiver on the lamp body — remotes are infrared and need line of sight.
- Check the battery tab in the remote has been pulled.
- If the light has been in storage, charge it a full day first — a flat pack ignores commands.
Frequently asked questions
Will the light still turn on automatically after I use the timer?
The timer runs for one night. To go back to dusk-to-dawn, press the auto button on the remote.
Why is my remote not working?
Most remotes are infrared and need a clear line of sight to the receiver on the lamp. Check the battery tab and make sure the unit has been charged.
Does using the timer save battery life?
Yes. Shorter nightly runtimes mean shallower discharge cycles, which measurably extends the life of a lithium pack.
