Documents Required

  • UN38.3 test summary for every cell and battery model
  • MSDS / SDS in English, issued within the last 12 months
  • Dangerous goods declaration (air) or DG form (sea)
  • Commercial invoice and packing list with watt-hour rating stated
  • Air waybill or bill of lading with the correct DG description
  • Certificate of origin where preferential duty applies

Packing & State of Charge Rules

State of Charge ≤ 30%

For UN3480 air shipments under PI965, cells and batteries must be at no more than 30% state of charge, verified before packing.

UN-Specification Packaging

Each battery separated to prevent short circuits, inner packaging per PI requirements, and a strong outer carton rated for the gross weight.

Labels & Marks

Lithium battery mark, cargo aircraft only mark where applicable, handling labels and a 24-hour emergency contact number.
